Join the WCEC on Friday, Dec. 5, for Move Out of Burnout and FLOURISH as Women of Color Engineers, an empowering, interactive session led by Tammy Ramos, J.D., CEO of LatinaVIDA, in collaboration with SWE.
This is not just a presentation, it’s a collective experience designed to help women of color engineers recognize the signs of burnout, reclaim balance, and reconnect with their purpose. Through reflection, storytelling, and actionable strategies, you'll explore how to move from survival mode to flourish.
Cameras on and engagement through the chat are encouraged as we create space to recharge, share, and reignite our joy and impact at work. This session is free and open to all.

National Native American Heritage Month
This November we celebrated National Native American Heritage Month. At WCEC a time to celebrate and highlight Indigenous women in STEM. We invite you to check out these resources to continue creating work environments that support and uplift women of color in engineering.
Ep 341: Indigenous Voices in STEM: A Conversation With Sarah EchoHawk, AISES President
In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, SWE CEO and Executive Director Karen Horting sits down with Sarah EchoHawk, president and CEO of Advancing Indigenous People in STEM (AISES), to discuss visibility, allyship, and access for Indigenous engineers.
Sarah shares her family’s deep legacy of public service, the role of tribal colleges in reclaiming education, and how Indigenous knowledge systems — from fire science to environmental stewardship — can help solve global challenges.
Plus, hear how employers, educators, and organizations like SWE can strengthen partnerships with AISES to ensure Indigenous voices are included in the future of STEM.

What is the WCEC?
The WCEC was created in 2021 as a partnership network of professional engineering societies and STEM-based companies. The WCEC is working to address systemic barriers that prohibit equitable work environments for women engineers of color.
Since its inception, the WCEC has grown to 29 organizations, created a shared vision and mission, and developed a strategic plan that will guide our efforts over the next few years. Thank you for your interest and support of our work. We hope that you will engage with the WCEC as we begin implementing the strategies aimed at tackling the major challenges facing women of color (WOC) in the engineering workplace.
Want to Get Involved?
Are you interested in having your organization become a member of the WCEC? Read our membership guidelines and fill out an application. Learn more.
While we don’t offer membership to individuals, we do want to grow the WCEC community! Soon we will begin collecting profiles of amazing WOC engineers for our Inspiring Leaders database. We are also collecting resources from our member organizations to place in our online Resource Center. We will be using this newsletter to get the word out as these activities get underway. Please share the WCEC with your network and invite others to sign up for our newsletter through the Contact Us form on the WCEC website.
