Disability Pride Month:
Centering Accessibility in Engineering
At WCEC, we believe that authentic inclusion means designing systems, spaces, and workplaces that work for everyone. As we recognize Disability Pride Month 2025, we celebrate the innovation, leadership, and resilience of engineers with disabilities—and we reaffirm our commitment to accessibility as a core pillar of equity in STEM.
Explore how accessibility can drive innovation in engineering—not just meet minimum standards. Watch our webinar, Designing Beyond Compliance: A Deep Dive into Critical Accessibility Theory.
Learn how engineers and organizations can move from checklists to culture shifts by rethinking accessibility through an intersectional, systems-driven lens.

Together, let’s challenge assumptions, dismantle barriers, and co-create engineering spaces where all bodies and experiences belong.

Participants Needed for a Study on the
Pathways and Experiences of Individuals in the Engineering Workforce
The Women of Color in Engineering Collaborative (WCEC) is looking for participants to take our survey on the experiences in the engineering workforce, with emphasis on women of color. Your responses will help support the creation of more supportive, encouraging, and inclusive environments for all who enter engineering.
You may qualify if you are at least 18 years of age, identify as an engineer, and are currently employed or have previously been employed in engineering roles.
The survey includes a combination of multiple choice and open-ended questions about your experiences and perspectives in a variety of areas related to your engineering career and workplaces. This survey will take approximately 15-25 minutes to complete. Your data will be kept entirely confidential and used solely for research purposes.
If you have any questions, please contact wcec@swe.org.

What is the WCEC?
The WCEC was created in 2021 as a partnership network of professional engineering societies and STEM-based companies. The WCEC is working to address systemic barriers that prohibit equitable work environments for women engineers of color.
Since its inception, the WCEC has grown to 29 organizations, created a shared vision and mission, and developed a strategic plan that will guide our efforts over the next few years. Thank you for your interest and support of our work. We hope that you will engage with the WCEC as we begin implementing the strategies aimed at tackling the major challenges facing women of color (WOC) in the engineering workplace.
Want to Get Involved?
Are you interested in having your organization become a member of the WCEC? Read our membership guidelines and fill out an application. Learn more.
While we don’t offer membership to individuals, we do want to grow the WCEC community! Soon we will begin collecting profiles of amazing WOC engineers for our Inspiring Leaders database. We are also collecting resources from our member organizations to place in our online Resource Center. We will be using this newsletter to get the word out as these activities get underway. Please share the WCEC with your network and invite others to sign up for our newsletter through the Contact Us form on the WCEC website.
